NISCU was started by the North West Evangelistic Trust in 1981 to develop the schools work ut had begun in Carnforth, North Lancashire. In 2010 NWET was closed down and NISCU became a Charity and Public Limited Company in its own right. The charity began has 7 trustees who are also the directors of the NISCU company.

Trustee: Ruth Houston. Deputy headteacher of a secondary school, a Trustee since 2011. "I have been involved in NISCU since I used to attend camp myself, my own children now benefit from the work of NISCU. As a secondary teacher I have seen firsthand lives that have changed when young people learn of the love of Jesus through the work of NISCU."

Trustee: Sandy Roy. Historic Buildings Architect, a trustee since 1996. "Involved in NISCU since the mid 1980's as supporter, local chairman and now trustee, I have been thrilled to see at first hand dozens of young people come to trust in the Lord Jesus, grow & mature in their faith, and go on to serve the Lord in many spheres of life."
